The Mackay Region sits on the Queensland Coast, half way between Brisbane and Cairns. The region's 66,484 square kilometres offer a relaxed, tropical city, secluded beaches, an award-winning marina, and pristine rainforest hinterland. There is plenty of space for inspired thinking, without big city distractions. Whilst a nature-based destination, it boasts a sophisticated, award-winning convention centre seating over 1000 delegates, as well as resorts, hotels and mountain lodges. Mackay has an inventory of over 2000 rooms of 3.5 star and above, with more than ten 4+ star hotels within easy walking distance of the convention centre and the CBD. Inspiration awaits with amazing off-site options – rooftop venues with panoramic views of the picturesque blue-water river; rustic warehouses dating back to the 1880’s; historic Queensland pubs offering exotic island vistas; even an award winning miniature sugar mill and distillery. Mackay extends a warm welcome – the event-friendly CBD has been streetscaped to make events a breeze – you might even stage your very own street party. Expectations are exceeded through memorable group activities – breakfast with the wallabies on the beach at Hillsborough? SCUBA dive with the elusive platypus in the wild in Eungella National Park? Watch a professional horse race event staged on a city beach? Perhaps an escorted walk or a Tai Chi session along the extensive Bluewater Trail? Or maybe sailing on sparkling Whitsunday waters? Hot summers and mild, sunny winters mean great weather for events. Excellent aviation, road and rail access – more than 100 flights weekly and just 1.5 hours from Brisbane by air. The region is a powerhouse of strong industry sectors – a leader in sugarcane and beef cattle production; fishing, boating and marine including superyacht servicing; coal mining distribution and servicing. Tap into expert local speakers, interesting site tour options and trade show support – reserve your next event for Mackay, Queensland.
