The Philippines: Southeast Asia’s MICE Destination of Choice

The big impact of Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions/Events (MICE) on the country’s over-all tourism industry is noteworthy.  With major events organized in 2017 consisting of the 31st ASEAN and Related Summits, Madrid Fusion Manila and the World Street Food Congress, international and local MICE organizers and delegates are discovering the capability of the country to host large-scale events and conferences.

In the past decade, the Philippines has seen significant growth for its MICE facilities as well.  Business is thriving as more hotels and resorts are developed in key and emerging destinations, making the Philippines the go-to-hub in Southeast Asia.  With five star properties, world class entertainment centers, and new international airports to be built around the country, doors are now wide open for MICE planners to consider the Philippines as their next event destination.

The Philippines is also set to host an array of future symposia for 2018 such as the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations Congress, Asia Pacific Coral Reef Symposium, World Street Food Congress 2018, among others.  On 03-06 May 2018, more than 3,000 people will gather in Manila, Philippines for the Asian Development Bank’s 51st Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors to discuss the way forward for the Asia Pacific Region.

With these developments and events, the Philippines is undoubtedly becoming the Southeast Asian Region’s MICE destination of choice.
